While traveling through Europe in the summer of 2015 researching other projects, I quickly noticed how out of touch I was with current affairs due to traveling alone in foreign countries. Attempting to both exploit this and inform myself as best I could, I purchased a local newspaper daily in whichever city I was, and would make a collage using exclusively the images from that day. The de-contextualization of images of persons mostly foreign to me resulted in a display of the issues of gender, race, religion, and class that exist just below the surface of media. Upon returning home, I scanned each collage and had them reprinted as a newspaper.
